Luminous-landscape has published their best and the worst picks of the 2012.
Here are their bests:
- Nikon D800
/ D800E
- Nikon D600
- Sigma DP2 Merril
- Sony RX100
- Sony RX1
(well, not quite as he decided that this entry belongs to the year 2013, otherwise it would have made it to the year 2012)
And here’s the list of cameras that almost made it to the top list:
It is interesting to see that the Sigma DP2 Merril made it to this list. I suppose if you care about the IQ at the base ISO and pretty much nothing else, then the DP2 Merril
could be a pretty good choice. And if you look at other choices, it is obvious that this author puts pure IQ above most other factors. Even RX1
and RX100
feature the best IQ over other competitors in their respective classes.
Its no surprise that Olympus OM-D E-M5
and Fuji X-E1
/ X-Pro 1
made it to the “honorable” list. Not sure why Sony NEX-6
/ NEX-7
didn’t make it to this list though.
And here are the worsts of 2012:
- Sigma SD1
- Black Magic Cine Camera
- Hasselblad Nunar
Not much needs to be said about this list – they really are quite awful.
