Theretrographer has published a new user experience review on the Fuji X-E1. Keep in mind that the reviewer does not have any prior knowledge with DSLR system – his previous camera was a Panasonic LX3 so this is a huge upgrade, at least from the image quality perspective. Check this review out.
His thoughts on the kit: it is a nice and compact system. It’s light and focus and write the images fast. Perhaps not as a fast as a DSLR – I don’t know as I’ve never owned a DSLR, to me this is an upgrade from the Panasonic LX3. Some shots however were not focused accurately due to how quick the shots needed to be taken and my attempt to get the shallowest dept of field as possible. The images and colour produced are beautiful however my initial thought that they should be sharper based on what I’ve seen others have posted, but then I realised the ones I was thinking about were probably taken with the 35mm f1.4 which is a much sharper (but slower) lens. I can’t wait to get my hands on that lens! But if you want to do street photography, you’ll probably better off staying with the 18-55mm lens due to its versatility and speed.
I wasn’t actually planning to get this zoom lens. My initial plan was just to get the 35mm f1.4 and the 14mm f2.8 but the price of the zoom lens if you buy it through the kit makes this lens a steal – I’m glad I got it.
