According to digicame-info, Olympus may announce their new long range zoom soon. Apparently, this zoom will have the focal length of 70-300mm and the aperture f4.8-6.7 (ouch). I guess this is the replacement for the exising Olympus 75-300mm lens (hence the recently discontinued notices in many vendors) but not sure why they would replace it with near identical spec. The Olympus 75-300mm
never really had issues with the focus speed, nor any motor noise. Its glass quality was fine was well. I would have preferred them to increase the size of the aperture. It’s only a wishful thinking but something like 100-300mm f2.8-4 would be very nice.
