According to the latest patent Olympus published, they have a lens design that features a focal length of 6-24mm and the aperture size from f/1.4-1.8. This focal length happens to be identical to that of XZ-2, indicating that perhaps this is the new lens design for the upcoming XZ-3. I have to admit, I was suprised that Olympus didn’t change the spec of the XZ-2
lens (it has identical specification as XZ-1′s lens). If the XZ-3 indeed ends up using f/1.4-1.8 aperture while retaining the same focal lengths, that would be a class leading spec, exceeding the current leader, Panasonic LX7
′s f/1.4-2.3 by a good margin. It will more than likely to use a 1/1.7-inch sensor (the focal lengths alone is enough of a clue).
