DSLR Check has published a new comparison test between Panasonic 100-300mm and Olympus 75-300mm
zoom lenses. Based on the user feedback from various forums, these two lenses feature about the same level of IQ. The Panasonic 100-300mm
is a bit cheaper and features a larger aperture throughout its range but the Olympus 75-300mm
holds the edge in size, weight and obviously, 75-99mm focal range. The Panasonic 100-300mm
has all-important IS built into the lens for Panasonic body owners. I’ve personally owned both lenses and even did my own comparison and ended up keeping the Olympus 75-300mm
. Why? the IQ is roughly the same but I prefer the color of the Oly slightly more, plus it is a bit lighter and smaller. Built-in IS is a non-factor since my E-M5
has the IBIS already. I even did some comparison between Panasonic-100-300mm IS vs E-M5
′s IBIS and at least for me, E-M5
′s IBIS clearly outperformed Panny’s.
Here’s the full resolution image that compares these to lenses, both at 100mm and at 300mm. Check them out for yourself.
