Camerahoarders has published a new review of Olympus 15mm f8.0 body cap lens. Although this is a lens, it doesn’t cost much more than an original lens cap. It also features the worst image amongst all lenses currently available. But it is almost as thin as a lens cap, so if you can afford $40, why not?
Their conclusion: First of all, you need to make sure to understand for whom is this product for. This is not a lens, this is a body cap with focus switch; it looks like one, performs like one and is being advertised as one. If you want a proper lens to take sharp images, don’t bother with Olympus 15mm f8 body cap. It’s not sharp enough and fixed aperture limits its usability. Better spend your money on a pint of beer with friends.
On the other side, if you have Instagram account, listen only to bands who sold 15 records or less and ride a fixie, 15mm lenscap is the thing to have. In combination with Art filters on Olympus micro 4/3 cameras it guarantees a lot of fun while being the most pocketable mirrorless camera-lens combo. You like to experiment? …buy it. At $ 40 it’s a no-brainer.
