Here’s a professional photographer who switched from his full frame Canon 5D Mark IIto Olympus OM-D
E-M5
. And he has given 10 reasons why. He certainly thinks the E-M5
produces good enough images for his professional work. I’m curious about his point #4 though. Which 90mm M.Zuiko lens cost £200 and still be one of the best portrait lens in the world? Sounds like he is talking about Olympus 90mm f/1.8 lens, which is probably one of the best but it costs a bit more than that.
Still, as he correctly points out, the Olympus 90mm is far smaller, lighter and cheaper than Canon 85mm f/1.2, but then again, with that f/1.2, it better be!

The Oly 45mm 1.8 can easily be found between £150-200 on the secondhand market in the UK. I’m guessing that’s what the blogger meant.
He means the 45mm (90mm equiv) 1.8
You can get that for around £200
Very good article, thank you!
Concerning the portrait length the author is mentioning, I’m pretty sure he is talking about the m zuiko 45mm f1.8 since he is mentioning it is 90mm efl (equivalent focal length)
90mm in 35mm ELF = 45mm in Micro 4/3
It is Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.8.
Doh you are right. How silly of me.
But he says it’s made of metal, which the 45mm/1.8 is clearly not.
Yeah I guess this is what threw me off. Plus, although the 45mm is a very good portrait lens, it is the 75mm that received bigger praises as a portrait lens. Either way, I messed this one up!
